Fairytales (Tong Hua) by Guang Liang
Aug 19th, 2008 by admin
童话 - 光良
This song is originally in the key of F#, and it goes up to G# then A# when it approaches the end. Anyway, for simplicity’s sake, my demo here is done in the key of G.
Again, the way I used my fingers is purely for the sake of making the notes that I press easier to see on the video. You don’t have to follow that.
I won’t go into the explanation of the chord progressions. However, if anyone is keen to know the progressions, please do let me know.
Here’s the video…

I am adding a version 2 of the video here as a response to a reader’s request for a “full-chord” version.
Note that I used my first 3 fingers on my right hand to play the chords. This is not the best way to play chords. I chose to do so in order that viewers can see the notes I pressed. Please use the fingers you find most comfortable for your own playing.
I have also divided the song into 3 parts or 3 different progressions so that it’s easier for one to learn, picking up a part at a time.
Here’s the new version…

These are the “cheat” chords I played…
Part 1: G - Em7 - C - C/D
Part 2: Bm7 - Em7 - C - C/D
Part 3: G - D/F# - Em7 - Em7/D - C - C/D - G - F/G - C - D/C - Bm7 - Em7 - Am7 - c/D - G

Hi!
I don’t have any notes (music sheet) for this song, or for any song. However, I’m sure you can get it on the Internet quite easily, or buy from a local music store. Just by doing a quick search on Google, I found the notes available for viewing at the following site: http://www.docstoc.com/docs/4932/Tong-Hua-Sheet-Music-(Piano)
But one needs to register as a member to download the file. Perhaps you can try registering as a member on that site.

Hi Jasmine,
I decided to post the full-chord version on the blog instead of sending to your email so that it may benefit others as well. Please see the posting above. I hope this is helpful.

Hi aisha, I don’t have the song sheet. Will let you know if I come across one.
can you make a video on how to play tong hua…the music that sounded like xylophones in the firstt video
Hi Jason, I believe you meant the melody. It would be too tedious to do that. Besides, I’m sure you can find it elsewhere and on music sheet. The style I intend to teach is to accompany the singing. Thank you for visiting.
