I just realized from a recent USD1 donation I received, that PayPal took away a-third of that amount! That is because of a certain minimum amount of fee PayPal charges for using the service.
For that reason, it doesn’t make sense anymore to ask for a USD1 donation, with about 33 cents going to someone else! 
Therefore, I’ve just changed my donation request to USD3. You can see this on the right panel of this site.

It is possible to donate without using PayPal? I tried to donate with my credit card but it always ask create a PayPal account first. Very irritating.
Mmm… I’m sorry, Jian Ping. I don’t know how to do that either. I’ve tried it out, and like you said, it asked that I create a PayPal account first. However, I think I can understand why it does that, since PayPal is a trusted 3rd party, it is actually safer to pay through PayPal than to pay for a service (e.g., booking of hotels, etc) directly by having to reveal to too many parties your Credit Card details. So I gave in to this PayPal thing and decided to give it a try. I’ve heard a lot of bad press about them but hopefully things will work out smoothly.

I don’t know what bad press there is about PayPal, but I find it a safer way to do transaction online than to use credit cards.
