Priority Requests

Purpose Of Making “Priority Requests”

After much careful consideration, I’ve decided to add this notice to allow song requests to take a higher priority. That’s because presently (at the time of writing) there are still 179 songs in the queue, the oldest request being one made on 10 APR 2010 (today is 13 AUG 2010), meaning it has become a rather long wait for a song request to be fulfilled, compared to the time when I just began (I could have it delivered the very day a request was made!). So, if anyone wants a song really fast, this is a channel to get it done, with a cost, of course, as that’s only fair for those who have been waiting in the queue.

How Do I Charge

It’s difficult for me to arrive at a price tag. One way to determine it is perhaps by considering what it would cost for one to jump queue ahead of 179 songs (which is at least 4 months of waiting). However, to see it that way, it should cost quite a bit, shouldn’t it?! So, I thought perhaps by setting 3 different categories of priority would help to bring the price tag down. So, this is what I’ve come up with:
• For 1 song request to be fulfilled within 1 month, I will charge USD3.
• For 1 song request to be fulfilled within 1 week, I will charge USD10.
• For 1 song request to be fulfilled within 3 days*, I will charge USD15.
*I don’t dare to say 1 day, as I don’t always check my mail, so I may miss your request!

What will happen to the usual (not priority) requests?

The requests that are not prioritized will still be treated as usual, i.e., as soon as I possibly can cope. Based on my records, I’ve been able to do between 3 and 10 videos a week. All song requests (priority or not) will still be entertained, it’s just a matter of time. As I said, it’s just that the queue is getting too long, so I’m afraid some may want to find ways to give their requests a priority. Without doing so, your requests will still be fulfilled, though it may take at least 4 months based on the current number in the queue.

(updated: 2011 DEC 27) It probably takes 1 year now for me to reach a new request. As of today, I’m still working on songs requested in February 2011.

What you are paying for?

Please understand that you are not paying for the video-making or chord¬-identifying service. That is, I rather not have people tell me how long of the song they want to see, in what key, to what details, etc. The service I’m providing is still free. What you are paying for (if you choose to) is the priority to have your request done ahead of others, and that’s all.

How many songs can take such a priority?

I can do up to 10 songs in a week, or up to 5 songs in 3 days. Should there be more than that number of priority requests, I will have to decline those made later, as I’m not doing this full time.

Payment gateway

I’d prefer to be paid through PayPal. Payment can be made to lesliyo@gmail.com
Upon payment, please notify me by dropping me an email, in case I miss the notification from PayPal. Please identify your request(s) on your email, for otherwise I wouldn’t know what you are paying me for.

(updated: 2013 NOV 19) A number of people have asked about my address for Paypal payment. It is “lesliyo@gmail.com”. If you do not know how to use Paypal, the easier alternative is to click on the “Donate” button on the right-hand panel on my site. It will lead you to the payment gateway. You will see my email address on top of the page. You can use that page to make payment, either using credit card or Paypal.

Note that the URL on that page starts with “https”. That means the transaction is encrypted and secure. It’s a third-party site that belongs to Paypal. Since it is encrypted, no one else can see the information you enter on the page, besides yourself and Paypal.

Other Modes of Payment

I’m just as uncomfortable as you are with payment through the Internet. Well, that’s why I choose to use PayPal, instead of using Credit Card directly. I hope you can understand. I would rather just keep to that. PayPal also issues receipts, so it’s good for the payer. Besides I’m not sure how payment directly into bank account works, especially across international borders and with different currencies, etc.

(updated: 2010 SEP 29) I raised the amount to charge for priority requests to USD3 instead of the previous USD1 for a request to be fulfilled within 1 month. That’s because I realized from a recent donation I received of USD1 that, PayPal took away about a third of that! I think it must be due to some minimum fee for using PayPal. So, it’s not worth me charging USD1, with about 33 cents going to someone else. I have raised the charges accordingly also for the within-1-week, and within-1-month priority requests.

For priority requests, you can pay through PayPal to my account, i.e., lesliyo@gmail.com (PayPal will ask you for the email address of the payee, then use that). I would suggest that you send me a notice to the same email account too, so that I get notified early, as I may not check the messages on the blog regularly. Thanks for your support!

Happy New Year to you too. I was away for Christmas and New Year, over a 2-week holidays in Vietnam.
I listen to music, no matter the language too.
In fact, I brought back with me a CD from Vietnam, after hearing the songs played in a restaurant. I asked the waiter for the title and singer of the album, then went hunting for it in a record store. Haha!
If I have the time, I would like to do a cheat for at least a song from that CD.
